NOVA Presidential Priorities
STRATEGIC LEADER. The next president will ensure the institution’s structure and culture is aligned with NOVA’s strategic plan and vision. This individual will have the ability to lead and actively engage college leaders, faculty, and staff to implement NOVA’s strategic plan and to create an environment and capacity for success. The new president will be an innovative leader who possesses creative strategies and necessary skills to raise and align substantial resources to promote student access and success.
CHAMPION OF STUDENT ACCESS AND SUCCESS. The next president will demonstrate a deep commitment to student access and success through continuous assessment and strengthening of academic program pathways. The new president will demand excellence in curriculum development to engage and provide new opportunities for our students.
DIVERSITY ADVOCATE. The next president will actively create and promote an environment that is welcoming and respectful. This individual will provide vision and leadership that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion for all faculty, staff and students. The new president will understand diversity and inclusion issues and help drive diverse talent identification and retention for our College community.
PROMOTER OF COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS. The next president must be a visionary leader who will position the College in developing new partnerships with regional stakeholders. This individual will also continue to nurture and strengthen existing partnerships with regional stakeholders including business leaders, governments and university partners. The new president must also be able to engage and cultivate new partnerships to expand on program pathways and certifications that support the high demand skills needed in our region, including high-tech, cybersecurity, and healthcare. This individual will demonstrate NOVA’s commitment to our community by supporting the strategic opportunities and efforts that will benefit the people in our region.
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATOR. The next president will possess the skills to effectively bring the College together to execute on its strategic plan and goals. This individual will engage in honest and open dialogue with the College and the surrounding community. The new president must ensure the College’s structure and culture supports efficient execution of its strategic plan and vision while maintaining a high level of morale and engagement.
