Annual Planning and Evaluation Reports for Instructional Programs

Programs report on student learning through their Annual Planning and Evaluation Report (APER) for Instructional Programs. In this report, programs are required to assess students’ mastery of three Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) each academic year, along with one Core Learning Outcome (i.e., General Education outcome), and two Program Goals (graduation rates and program-placed students, i.e., enrollment).

Programs report on four areas:

  1. Outcomes: Which outcomes were assessed.
  2. Methods: How the outcome was assessed (i.e., what assignment was used to measure students’ mastery of the outcome).
  3. Results: How students performed on the assessment (results are reported in aggregate form; no individual students’ scores are included).
  4. Use of Results: What the program will do to improve student learning, based on the results.
