The Northern Virginia Health Care Workforce Alliance (NoVaHealthFORCE) is a coalition of private sector, business, government, community, health care and educational leaders established to address the Northern Virginia health care workforce shortage. The mission of the Coalition is to: Establish a long-term, business-driven, sustainable strategy to address the Northern Virginia health care workforce shortage.
The NoVaHealthFORCE commissioned PricewaterhouseCoopers to conduct a study of the issues and analyze the scope and impact of the present and future health care workforce shortage on Northern Virginia. This study was released in January 2005.
The NVCHWA is made up of 16 steering committee members. The members come from different areas of the community with the shared purpose of raising awareness of the health care shortage and developing strategies to increase the number of health care workers and bringing into the health care workforce new Americans and low-wage workers.
The HealthFORCE name came from the steering committee to represent the project. The project will help increase the awareness of the health care shortage and promote ideas and ways to help address the health care shortage. The HealthFORCE web site , www.novahealthforce.com, will be a central place people in the community can come to find out more about the problem and what they can do to help address the health care shortage.
