SGA to host Visionary 5K to raise money for scholarships

Northern Virginia Community College’s Annandale Campus Student Government Association is hosting the Visionary 5K race May 13 with a 2 p.m. start time. The race will be held at the Annandale Campus in an effort to raise money for SGA’s $1,000 Visionary Scholarships, which are dedicated to NOVA students transferring to four-year schools who made an impact while they studied at the Annandale Campus.

The Visionary 5K race is open to all students, faculty, staff and community members. The route for the 5K race is entirely on the campus and will also help runners learn more about the campus as they participate. The entry fee for students is $10, $15 for service member and veterans and $20 for non-students.

SGA is a permanent standing college entity and acts as a liaison between NOVA’s student body and the College’s administration. The association advocates for student interests during meetings with faculty and staff and also votes on funding requests for campus clubs and organizations. Members of SGA attend national conferences and host various events and meetings throughout the academic year to connect with the student body and to hear their concerns and interests regarding improving their experience at NOVA.

The Visionary 5K is a rain or shine event. To register to participate, visit the event website here. NOVA’s Annandale Campus is located at 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA, 22003.
