Top singers to battle for this year's NOVA Idol title March 22

On Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m., nine of NOVA’s top singing sensations will battle for the title of this year’s NOVA Idol. In addition, three students from area high schools will compete in a separate competition that evening to win the high school division.

In its tenth year, NOVA Idol continues to be a popular college-wide event with more than 250 students from NOVA’s six campuses making up the competition pool. Every year, the votes of both audiences and judges determine the first, second and third place winners. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000 and eight hours of studio time plus a sound engineer, courtesy of Cue Studio’s Center for Audio Engineering, to be used to create a demo album. Second and third places will receive awards of $1,500 and $1,000, respectively.

Tony Perkins will make a guest appearance as a celebrity host this year. Perkins is the co-anchor of ‘Fox 5 Morning News’ for WTTG in Washington, D.C. American soul singer and songwriter, William Bell will also make a guest appearance as celebrity judge.

Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:45 with a pre-show that Texas Chainsaw Horns Band and Beat Your Feet Finest (dance group).
