The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) visited NOVA November 14 to 17 for an onsite reaffirmation of accreditation review. The committee members included administrators from peer institutions, a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) evaluator and a SACSCOC staff member. In addition, Dr. Jennifer Hong-Silwany from the U.S. Department of Education participated as an observer.
SACSCOC committee members toured the campuses and off-campus sites to validate programs and services available as described in NOVA’s Compliance Certification and Focused Report. They also talked to students, faculty and staff about NOVA’s QEP —“GPS for Success: Teaching and Learning through Academic Advising.”
The visit was part of the reaffirmation process which began several months ago with an off-site review of NOVA’s Compliance Certification report. The next major step in the process is a decision by the Commission, expected in June 2012.
