Art show features scenes from ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’

March 28, 2011

A drawing by Osbourn High School ninth grader Jasmine Wandro will be on display at NOVA’s Innovation Park center from April 11 to May 15.

Northern Virginia Community College will exhibit artwork inspired by “Jack and the Beanstalk” from April 11 to May 15. The art was created by students from second grade through college who live in Manassas, Manassas Park, and Prince William and Stafford counties.

Last fall, local young artists were invited to interpret scenes from “Jack and the Beanstalk” in conjunction with the NOVA Manassas Symphony Orchestra performance based on the classic story. The concert premiered in December 2010 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.

The winning entries were professionally mounted by Rifat Bhatti at the Art and Framing Gallery in Manassas.

The exhibition will be on display at NOVA’s Innovation Park location, 9485 Innovation Drive in Manassas. The center is open 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. An opening reception, free and open to the public, is scheduled for April 11 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
