Alexandria Campus Provost Appointed

Peter Maphumulo has been selected as the new provost of the Alexandria Campus, effective December 4. 

Maphumulo comes to NOVA from his most recent position as vice president/executive dean at Bellevue College in Washington. For six years, he served as dean of liberal arts and mathematics for Portland Community College in Oregon. He also served as lead faculty/ program chair and professor of developmental education and basic skills at Spokane Community College’s Institute for Extended Learning.

Maphumulo has held administrative positions with the Spokane Educational District 101 and was an adjunct faculty at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash. Among other honors, he was twice named the George B. Brian Outstanding Administrator at Washington State University.

He earned a doctorate in educational administration from Washington State University. He also holds a Master of Arts in curriculum from the University of Montana and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Whitworth College in Spokane, Wash.

In regards to this selection, President Robert G. Templin, Jr. further adds that he truly appreciates the hard work and dedication of the Alexandria Campus Provost search committee and to all those who were able to participate in the interview process.
