On Feb. 20 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., the Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College will host the regional SkillsUSA high school competition in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration. NOVA faculty will judge the contest, which consists of a written examination and hands-on troubleshooting and repair. High school students will be tested on their ability to perform such jobs as troubleshooting and recommending service and repair, brazing, refrigerant component servicing, air measurement and troubleshooting, electrical troubleshooting, and refrigerant recovery. They will be judged on the use of tools and test equipment, speed, accuracy and safety.
