Marketing class creates promotional plan for nonprofit organization

December 8, 2009 6:00 PM

Marketing students at the Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College are ready to make a presentation to the board of directors of Fauquier Community Child Care. The students used concepts learned in “Introduction to Marketing” to create a promotional plan for the nonprofit before- and after-school program and will present their ideas on Dec. 10.

“Earlier this semester, Executive Director Melissa German visited my class to talk about her organization’s mission and provide an overview of the challenges of managing a nonprofit,” said Associate Professor Cathleen Behan. “Working on the plan and presentation has given my students a chance not only to be creative, but to place what they learned in the context of business and the value of presenting new ideas to management. The experience is priceless.”

The presentation will take place at 11 a.m. on Dec. 10 in room 309 at Northern Virginia Community College’s Woodbridge Campus, 15200 Neabsco Mills Road. To learn more, contact Behan at 703-878-5636 or cbehan@nvcc.edu.

Light refreshments from Catering by Darlene will be available courtesy of Oak View National Bank of Fauquier County.
