George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College celebrate 20 years of partnership

March 31, 2011 9:00 AM

On April 5 at 8:30 a.m., George Mason University President Alan G. Merten and Northern Virginia Community College President Robert G. Templin Jr. will sign a revised Guaranteed Admission Agreement and recognize the 20th anniversary of the formal partnership between the two institutions. Over the past 20 years, an estimated 36,000 to 38,000 students have attended NOVA before enrolling at Mason, with approximately 20,000 of these students formally transferring through the articulation agreement program.

The Guaranteed Admission Agreement facilitates seamless transfer for NOVA students who meet the criteria. Students must graduate with a transferrable associate degree with at least 30 credits taken at NOVA, including success in a variety of prerequisite courses while maintaining a strong grade point average to qualify. The full agreement is available at http://www.nvcc.edu/about-nova/directories--offices/administrative-offices/academic/guaranteed-adm/index.html.

The ceremony will take place at The Mason Inn Conference Center and Hotel, 4352 Mason Pond Drive in Fairfax. For more information, call Dana Kauffman, director of government affairs and community relations, at 703-323-3753 (office) or 703-629-8637 (cell).
