Background: Governor Northam, joined by elected officials, business leaders, and community members, will announce the Tech Pathways initiative. Tech Pathways is a culmination of a multi-year, regional effort in northern Virginia to increase awareness of careers in technology among K-12 students and their parents. This announcement marks the first-of-its-kind regional tech talent pipeline development initiative. This year, 140 middle and high schools in northern Virginia and their respective 203,000 students will participate in Tech Pathways. In addition to the announcement of the Tech Pathways initiative, Governor Northam will also issue a proclamation for Tech Talent Week in northern Virginia.
Tech Pathways was made possible by a $1 million investment made by GO Virginia and all nine jurisdictions in northern Virginia to prepare for the 112,000 technology jobs projected for the region throughout the next decade
