NOVA’s Medical Education Campus to host Mission of Mercy, March 10 and 11

The Medical Education Campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) will once again partner with the Northern Virginia Dental Society to provide free dental services for low-income residents of Northern Virginia. Mission of Mercy, also known as "M.O.M.," is a two-day annual event that offers high-quality dental care to 700 to 1,000 local patients between Friday and Saturday.

NOVA’s Medical Education Campus, 6699 Springfield Center Drive, Springfield VA 22150

The Dental Clinic is located on the first floor in Room 132. Parking is available on the 1st level of the parking garage in spaces marked Visitor.

March 10 – 11, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Northern Virginia Community College dental hygiene students will work with dentists, hygienists, dental assistants and other members of the community who volunteer their time to provide services that include examinations, fluoride treatments, oral surgeries and prophylaxis (teeth polishing).

According to the Virginia Health Care Foundation, an estimated 3.8 million Virginians—more than 47% of the total population—are without dental insurance. Dr. Terry Dickinson, executive director of the Virginia Dental Association, created the Mission of Mercy (M.O.M) program in 2000 to address the overwhelming need for access to free oral health care. The M.O.M program operates mobile clinics in strategic locations across the State, providing preventive, restorative, and surgical dental treatments to more than 4,000 low-income individuals each year.

Appointments have been previously scheduled through the Northern Virginia Dental Society by social service agencies. To volunteer as a dental professional or as an interpreter, please contact the Northern Virginia Dental Society at 703-642-5297.
