NOVA-AN to host eclipse viewing event, Aug. 21

The Math, Science, and Engineering Division at Northern Virginia Community College’s Annandale Campus will host an eclipse viewing event on Aug. 21, NOVA’s first day of fall classes. A variety of activities will be offered at “NOVA Eclipse Mania 2017” between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. in front of the CS Building. A map of the Annandale Campus is available here.
Among the activities in the works are use of approved viewing glasses provided by the Office of Student Life, a telescope presentation, a live feed from NASA, a demonstration of pinhole viewers and an art demonstration before and after the eclipse reaches totality at approximately 2:45 p.m. Division faculty scientists, including an astronomy expert, will be available to offer safety tips and answer questions.
The event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in B parking lots. To cover the event, contact NOVA’s Office of Media Relations, 703-764-0896.
