The season of giving and holiday cheer is upon us. Celebrate the holiday season by listening to popular music of the season, including selections from George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, a beautiful Hanukkah piece called The Eighth Candle by Steve Reisteter and Christmas favorites such as “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” The musical event will feature the NOVA Alexandria Band, Jazz Ensemble and Community Chorus.
Attendees will also be introduced to the 2016 Living Legends of Alexandria nominees during the evening. The initiative is an ongoing not-for-profit photo-documentary project to identify, honor and chronicle the people making current history in Alexandria. The 2016 Legends will be selected later this month and honored early next year at the annual Meet the Legend Reception.
The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10
Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria Campus, Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center, 4915 East Campus Drive, Alexandria, VA 22311
Attendees are not required to have a ticket to attend. The concert is free and open to the public, but the ensembles welcome donations. Free parking will also be available in the Beauregard Street garage during the event.
