NOVA and local elementary students to take center stage during performance
The Northern Virginia Community College NOVA Alexandria Band, the John Adams Elementary School Orff Ensemble and the George Mason and Jefferson-Houston Elementary Schools Jazz Band will perform a variety of musical selections as part of the annual Children’s Concert. The concert reflects NOVA Alexandria’s commitment to its community and is also a celebration of music education in the city’s local schools.
Among the selections will be movie music from "Frozen" and "Cinema Paradiso," the pop tune "Happy" by Pharrell Williams, and classical selections such as "Flight of the Bumblebee" by Rimsky-Korsakov, "Serenata" by Leroy Anderson, "Salvation is Created" by Pavel Tschesnokoff, and "The Sinfonians" by Clifton Williams. The evening will include a recognition ceremony for student winners from the Alexandria City Public Schools in the visual and performing arts categories of the National PTA Reflections Programs.
The Grand Finale will include a combined performance by the NOVA Alexandria Band, the John Adams Elementary Orff Ensemble and area elementary and middle school students. The concert is free and open to the public. Parking is free in the Beauregard Street Garage.
