NOVA Associate Professor Jill Mitchell has been selected for the 2019 Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence. Only one Virginia Community College System faculty member receives the award annually.
The award is given on the basis of encouragement of active learning, diversity and creativity of learning methods, integration of technology, and more.
In addition, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia recently chose Mitchell for the 2019 Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award. She is the only community college faculty recipient of the award and the 14th NOVA professor to receive the prestigious honor.
Mitchell is a graduate of the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business, where she obtained a B.B.A. in Management Information Systems. She is a Certified Internal Auditor with a M.S. in Accountancy from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce.
