What Do Phlebotomists Do?
Phlebotomists (PBT) work directly with patients. The laboratory depends on the phlebotomy technician to collect quality samples from patients to produce quality laboratory results. To do this, the phlebotomy technician must create an atmosphere of trust and confidence with patients while drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and reliable manner.
Phlebotomists are the ambassadors providing the face for the laboratory. They work directly with patients to collect quality samples for analysis. Phlebotomy is an invasive procedure; it requires professional and technical knowledge, skills and abilities.
