**Define the Math Center?**

The Math Center is divided into 2 parts: Master Math for Developmental or non-credit Math courses (MTT/BSK) and the Credit Math courses. Classes/ Labs / Testing for MTT/BSK courses are located in MH 219, MH 223, MH 207 and MH 209. MH 211 is where students go to be tutored in Credit level Math courses.

**Who may use the Credit level portion of the Math Center?**

Students who are currently enrolled in a NOVA credit-level math class at a NOVA Campus can use the Math Center.

**What questions may I ask the staff in the Credit level portion of the Math Center?**

You may ask the Math Center staff to assist you with odd numbered problems from your textbook or from your online course homework. The Math Center staff will not help with take home exams, practice tests, quizzes or worksheets.

**Can I come to the Credit portion of the Math Center if I miss class to have someone "catch me up"?**

No. If you miss class, you need to discuss make up work with your instructor. Your instructor may suggest that you view the video lectures (if available) in the Math Center (MH 211).

**Can I come to the credit portion of the Math Center for help in preparing for the math placement test?**

No. The Math Center staff does not "coach" you to pass a placement test, since the test is intended to evaluate your long-term knowledge. It would not benefit you to place into a credit course if your knowledge base is inadequate.

**Do I have to make an appointment to get help in the Credit portion of the Math Center?**

Help is available in the Math Center on a walk-in basis. If you are taking a MTT/BSK course, you may seek assistance in MH 223, 207, or 209. If you need extended help on a regular basis, one-on-one tutoring is available for credit math students through the Tutoring Center in MH-211. The MH 211 staff will make an appointment for you in the Accudemia Sign In system.

**I am taking a math class at another campus. Can I come to the Manassas Math Center for help?**

No if you are taking a MTT/BSK course. Yes if you are taking a Nova Credit Math course.

**I am taking developmental math (MTT/BSK) through ELI. Can I take tests and quizzes in the MH-219?**

No. ELI students must take all tests and quizzes in a campus Testing Center. The Manassas Campus Testing Center is located in MH-308.

**When is the MASTER Math Testing Room (MH 219) open?**

MH 219 testing for MTT/BSK math students is open Monday – Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Friday – Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The MTT/BSK Testing Room is located in MH 219.

**What are the MASTER Math (MTT/BSK) Testing Room Rules?**

- No cell phones at any time. If you have your cell phone out during a quiz or a test it is considered cheating. The consequences may include dismissal from the class and a U in the course.
- No headphones during a quiz or a test. Music must be turned off and headphones removed during testing.
- No scrap paper or paper of your own. All quiz or test work must be done on our designated colored test paper.
- Only white multiplication tables may be used on a test or a quiz. The equations on the back of the yellow multiplication table must be memorized for the quiz or test.

**When is the credit portion of the Math Center open?**

The credit portion of the Math Center is open in MH 211 on Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
