Online Early College High School
This is an expansion of our current dual enrollment partnership for high school seniors. It is based on an FY2021 pilot project between NOVA and Fairfax County Public Schools, the Early College High School will begin as an online initiative in the fall of 2021 in select K-12 systems in our service region. It would support academically qualified seniors, including those already in dual enrollment classes, in taking additional college courses taught online by NOVA faculty. These courses will not duplicate existing high school-based dual enrollment courses. They will expand student options to courses currently unavailable, saving families dollars and providing students with an accelerated path toward completing a college degree at NOVA or one of dozens of universities that accept NOVA credits. This would include “Passport courses” that are accepted by the universities and Cloud courses (or other high-demand credit classes in a technical field).
- The reduced cost of tuition makes college more accessible to students.
- Classes would not duplicate those already available to students through contract dual enrollment.
- Classes are online and asynchronous, so can fit into diverse high school schedules.
NOTE: Work on the rollout of this new initiative is ongoing. Contact College Government Affairs if you would like additional information.
