Student and Family Resource Center

The NOVA Student and Family Resource Center is a one-stop center for NOVA and community resources and a hub for resource programming. The Center is located in NOVA’s Pitney Bowes Building, down the street from the Annandale Campus, and provides a family-friendly environment for NOVA students and their children. Elevating Parents in College (EPIC) staff make referrals to various resources that provide support to NOVA students while they pursue a college credential.

Center Activities and Services

CommonHelp Application Assistance

NOVA staff will assist students that wish to complete the CommonHelp application, one application for Childcare Assistance, Energy Assistance, Food Assistance, Health Care Coverage, and Temporary Cash Assistance for Families with Minor Children.

Resource Referrals

NOVA staff will assist students in searching for college, community, and government resources and make appropriate referrals.

Workshops and Webinars 

Workshops and webinars are held in the Center and at various NOVA and partner locations. Topics include financial literacy, paying for college, community and government services, career readiness, and college success.

NOVA Resources

College Central Network

CCN’s one-stop career and job/internship search resources are FREE to NOVA students, alumni and area employers. Students and Alumni can access hundreds of jobs and internships, career and resume services, podcasts and help guides, NOVA career event announcements, and much more!

Credit for Prior Learning

Experiential learning can be evaluated for the purpose of awarding and gaining college credits through a process called Prior Learning Assessment (PLA).

Disability Support Services

NOVA makes reasonable accommodations in providing course, program and building modification, and/or auxiliary aids and services in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008.

NOVA is concerned about more than academic success, we also care about the emotional and physical well-being of our community members. The NOVACares process provides anyone a way to share his or her concerns by submitting an online incident report. The NOVACares Office receives and directs these reports to the appropriate NOVACares Responder for intervention, as needed.


All NOVA students, staff or faculty can ride FREE by showing their NOVA Card! Shuttle tracking and updates are available real-time through the NOVA Bus Tracker.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

WIC provides supplemental foods, healthcare referrals, nutrition education, and breastfeeding promotion and support to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.

Workforce Development Center (Alexandria City)

We provide workforce development services for job seekers, including our Career Center with computer, Internet and phone access, career readiness workshops, career assessments and customized hiring events to assist job seekers with job placement and retention.
