Senator Charles Colgan was a tireless champion for higher education in Virginia, ensuring that the capital necessary for new facilities kept pace with the College's overwhelming growth. His personal leadership secured the funding of more than 1.3 million square feet of development for NOVA, including Parrish Hall at the Manassas Campus and the new Arts and Science Building at the Woodbridge Campus.
Last year, thanks to Senator Colgan, the College opened the Regional Center for Workforce Education and Training in Prince William County, the first facility dedicated to the training needs of the business community. This multipurpose center is a major asset in helping to support the region's economic development.
Senator Colgan earned many honors from NOVA including an associate in human letters and the 2007 Northern Virginia Community College Medallion for his outstanding service and extraordinary contributions to the College.
We honor the life and legacy of Senator Colgan. We recognize the positive impact he had on the students, faculty and staff of Northern Virginia Community College and the citizens of our region.
