*Prerequisite: An English Proficiency Testing recommendation for ESL 9 OR ESL 2 and ESL 14 or equivalent. Provides contextualized practice at the high intermediate/advanced level to improve the speech and intelligibility of nonnative speakers of English. Focuses on problems of American English pronunciation, unclear individual sounds and positional variants, stress, rhythm and intonation common to speakers of different language backgrounds. Credits are not applicable toward graduation. Lecture 3 hours per week.
