All first-time students must take a one-credit Student Development (STD) course prior to enrolling in their 16th credit at NVCC.

¹ OPT 096, 196, 296 On-Site Training takes place on the job. To fulfill the requirements of a Registered Apprentice, 2000 hours per year are required.

² OPT 111 is the introductory course for all finishing and surfacing laboratory work. This course is required to be taken in conjunction with OPT 096, On-Site Training.

³ OPT 121 is an introductory course for ophthalmic optics. This course is required to be taken in the first semester.

⁴ OPT 123 is the introductory course for all ophthalmic dispensing work. This course is required to be taken in conjunction with OPT 196, On-Site Training.
