Transfer Information: NVCC has a formal articulation agreement for transfer to the B.S. in Health Sciences-Health Care Management at Old Dominion University TELETECHNET.

Students must comply with all General Admissions Requirements for Annandale Campus Health Technology Programs. (See page 99.)

Additional Admission Requirements: Entrance requirements include a high school diploma with one unit each of high school level Algebra and Science (preferably Biology), and achievement of a score of 81 or better on the reading section of the English placement test, a score of 85 or better on the writing section of the English placement test, and a satisfactory score on the Mathematics for Allied Health placement test. Evidence of good physical and mental health must be demonstrated by submission of a physical exam form. CPR-A certification is required at time of clinical experience.

Special Accreditation Status: The Health Information Technology program is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), in association with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Certification Eligibility: Graduates of the program are eligible to take a national certifying examination. The Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Certification is recognized nationwide as proof of proficiency in Health Information Technology.
