Department of Defense (DoD) Historically Black Colleges and Universities/Minority Serving Institutions (HBCU/MI) Summer Research Internship Program

Spend a summer working with experts from the DoD and get paid for it all! 
DOD HBCU/MI Summer Research Internship Program participants (U.S. Citizen studying Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) who is enrolled or graduated from NOVA) are afforded the opportunity to perform advanced research that contributes to the world around them. This program provides experiences to explore the talents and interests of future scientists and engineers. It aims to increase the number of minority scientists and engineers working throughout the DoD. 

Benefits include: 

  • Bi-weekly stipend of $1200 per week 
  • Travel and housing included 
  • Gain valuable confidence and work experience 
  • Learn in state-of-the-art research facilities 
  • Explore your career path  
  • Work side by side with DoD scientists and engineers

Get Trained and Find Flexible Work in Community Schools

Students need flexible work hours with competitive pay! Substitute teaching is the perfect job for our college students. In partnership with the NOVA Foundation and Prince William County Schools, the Learning on the Job: Everyone Wins grant allows students to develop their professional skills and serve our community schools. Selected students will receive training from the Teacher Education Program, serve as substitutes in Title I Schools, and have the chance to earn a $500 scholarship to NOVA!
