Get "ramped up" for your fall classes!
We will be holding some preparatory sessions (free of charge) to help you get ready for your fall English or math class. These sessions are free and are intended to help you be successful in your fall courses. Participation is optional and does not affect your enrollment in your fall courses.Lunch and a campus tour will be included for the on-campus sessions.
Student may sign up for either math or English, or both. We want students to be ready for their fall math and English courses. We understand that virtual learning has been challenging over the past year. This is an opportunity to brush up on skills and get to know NOVA before the fall starts.
Ramp Up for Math Workshops
The Ramp Up for Math Workshops are now full. We are unable to accept new registrations.
Monday, August 2 - Thursday, August 5
10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
These 4-day sessions are for students who are enrolled in any of the following in fall 2021:
- MTH 154
- MTH 161
- MTH 167
- MTH 245
- MTH 261
- MTH 263
A separate workshop will be held for each class. These preparatory sessions will be in person from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. from Monday, August 2 through Thursday, August 5 at each campus. Followed by lunch and a campus tour.
Ramp Up for English Workshops
Monday, August 9 - Friday, August 13Students can choose between a morning or evening session.
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- Monday, August 9: Alexandria (or Zoom) from 9-12 + lunch and campus tour
- Tuesday, August 10: Annandale (or Zoom) from 9-12 + lunch and campus tour
- Wednesday, August 11: Loudoun (or Zoom) from 9-12 + lunch and campus tour
- Thursday, August 12: Woodbridge (or Zoom) from 9-12 + lunch and campus tour
- Friday, August 13: Manassas (or Zoom) from 9-12 + lunch and campus tour
There will be presentations and activities centered around three themes each day:
- Remote Learning and Technology
- Academic Success Skills
- ENG Essentials
6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
This 5-day preparatory session is intended for students who are registered for ENG 111 in the fall. It will be delivered virtually (via Zoom) each day. There will be presentations and activities centered around three themes each day: Remote Learning and Technology, Academic Success Skills, and ENG Essentials. Each day, students will learn about different topics, engaging in discussion and doing some hands-on practice.
