DMS Prospective Student Workshop

  • All interested students are welcome.
  • Send an email to afowler@nvcc.edu with your name, email, and student ID (if you have one) to register for the Zoom option.

Available Workshops:

  • Tuesday, May 2, 2023
5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Room 154 at MEC with Zoom option

2023 Applicants: The May 2, 2023 workshop is the last workshop you may attend to apply for 2023 admission. It is a requirement for application.
2024 Applicants: The DMS Prospective Student Workshop is being replaced with DMS 100 Orientation to the Sonography Profession, a one-credit, 7-week prerequisite course. DMS 100 sessions will be available in late summer for Fall 2023 registration. Attending a previous workshop will not waive the DMS 100 course requirement.

It is highly advised that prospective DMS students take the full 15-week semesters of BIO 141 and BIO 142 for their prerequisite courses. Students who have taken the 8 or 10-week sessions have demonstrated a high degree of difficulty with DMS 207 and DMS 217. Diagnostic Medical Sonography requires a superior level of working knowledge in the field of cross-sectional anatomy. The preparation for the sectional anatomy classes DMS 207 and DMS 217 directly impacts student success in the DMS program. The DMS program requires that students must have a 79.5% or higher in all DMS classes to progress to the next semester.
