This curriculum is designed for persons who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a baccalaureate degree program in information technology.

Program Details

This program offers a solid foundation into information and technology, while providing valuable insight to determining your area of focus and next steps. With courses like JAVA or C++ Programming, Advanced Database Management and PC Hardware and OS Architecture, you’ll gain the knowledge and exposure to guide your future. NOVA has a growing list of four-year colleges accepting our Information Technology A.S. degree for transfer.

Satisfactory completion of the following high school units or equivalent: 4 units of English; 4 units of mathematics (Algebra I-II, geometry and precalculus); 1 unit of laboratory science; and 1 unit of social studies is recommended for program preparation.

Credit for Prior Learning

Northern Virginia Community College accepts industry-standard certifications, credentials and/or professional courses for credit. Broadly, licenses, credentials and/or certifications must be current and valid for consideration. For more information regarding the status of the certification and its eligibility for credit, please see an advisor or faculty members in the discipline area that awards CPL credit.

Program Degrees and Certificates

Specific program courses provide the knowledge and skills to test for industry certifications. The IET Division strongly recommends that students take a preparatory or review course prior to setting for an exam. Exam fees are not included in the course fees or tuition.
