Jacksonville Town Square

The town square of Jacksonville, Alabama, is dominated by the statue of Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the U.S. The town, founded in 1822, was renamed in 1834 to honor Andrew Jackson, who led his Tennessee volunteers through the area during the Creek Indian War of 1813-1814. Rick Bragg grew up on a farm located a few miles from Jacksonville, Alabama.
