Bibb Graves Hall

Bibb Graves Hall is one of the oldest buildings on the Jacksonville State University campus. The college, begun in 1893 as a state teacher's college, today has an enrollment of 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

Rick Bragg enrolled in a class in feature writing in 1977. He volunteered to write for the campus newspaper The Chanticleer and was assigned to cover college football games. A few weeks later, the local newspaper, the Jacksonville News, offered him $50 a week to write local sports news (122).
