NOVA’s Uncommon Coders is an intensive in person 12-week coding boot camp designed to accelerate learning for motivated participants, while providing a clear pathway into the workforce. Uncommon Coders was developed to meet the growing demand for programming-related jobs in the D.C. metro area, while also equipping local talent with the skills they need to get hired. Due to the fast-paced and intense nature of the program, the ideal Uncommon Coders participant is a self-starter who is accountable and ready for success. As an employer-centric program, local businesses will have a direct impact on the program content and first access to interview participants. NOVA’s Uncommon Coders was developed in collaboration with The Iron Yard.
This program was launched to support veterans and transitioning military who are interested in entering the information technology field.
Uncommon Coders is supported by a host of local businesses, industry associations and workforce development organization, including the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) and the NVTC Veterans Employment Initiative (VEI).Classes began on February 6, 2017.
