Before you can register for classes, you must have been formally admitted to the College (see Admissions). You may apply online to NVCC. Students who are new to Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) or who are returning after 3 years of non-attendance must complete and submit an Application for Admission. Students who have lived in Virginia for one consecutive year or more and are claiming entitlement to in-state tuition rates must also complete an Application for Virginia In-State Tuition Rates.
Once your application is submitted and you receive your EMPLID, you may register for classes using NovaConnect unless you are enrolled in a restricted program (Veterinary Technology, Nursing, or Allied Health program). If you are in a restricted program, you must register at the campus where the program is offered. |

(Note: Not all NovaConnect functions are available on the telephone.)
- Regular Registration (Add\Drop\Swap)
You may make schedule changes (adding, dropping, or swapping courses) by using NovaConnect Web/Telephone. We recommend that you obtain a copy of your registration course schedule by using NovaConnect.
- Schedule Adjustment with Permission
During the “Schedule Adjustment With Permission” period, you may only add a course by obtaining the written permission of both the faculty member and the division dean. During this period, it is still possible to drop a course using NovaConnect.
