2009 Summer Bridge Program

Register for 2009 Summer Bridge Program at WoodbridgeDuring this six-week program the students will receive coursework and tutoring in Math and English and complete the SDV 100-College Success Skills. The students will retake our placement tests at the end of the program to determine eligibility for college success skills.

To Qualify

  • Take the English and Math placement test.
  • Place into developmental Math and English—any combination of the following:
    Math 2, Math 3, Math 4, English 1, English 3, English 4 or English 5.
  • Enroll in the Student Development (SDV 100)—assists students to make a successful transition to college. This course teaches college policies and procedure. It provides students with the academic tools for success, including study skills and career exploration. Students will be exposed to skills which teach self-management and self-responsibility that relate to being a successful student.
  • Purchase a parking decal.

During the Program Students Will

  • Work with Math faculty and tutors to increase their proficiency level in basic arithmetic and algebra.
  • Work with English faculty and tutors to improve their reading comprehension, pace and writing techniques.
  • Receive individualized long term academic advising.
  • Become familiar with campus resources.
  • Build a support network with students, faculty and staff.
  • Participate in a field trip and social activities.

The Program Will Cost

Student Responsibility Fees

  • SDV 100 ($95.60)
  • Parking Decal ($75.00)

  • Math and English Instruction
  • Math Text Materials
  • English Textbook
  • Tutoring
  • Field Trip/Social Event

The Program Schedule Is

July 14 - August 20
Tuesday and Thursday 9:00a.m. to Noon

Who Is Eligible

Students possessing a Virginia high school diploma or the equivalent who are eligible for admission to Northern Virginia Community College. High school graduates from the class of 2009 with at a 2.0 grade point average or higher are encouraged to apply.
