Lynn has been the IT Manager for the Woodbridge Campus of NVCC since November of 1997. Before that, she worked as a P-14 for the Woodbridge Campus Open Computer Lab for six years (1989 – 1995) and then assumed a position at the Manassas Campus for two years as the Network Administrator for the computing labs. She left for a brief period to work at EDS in Washington D.C. as a Systems Administrator and then went on to work at American University as the Network Administrator for the Executive Staff. She recently graduated from Mary Washington College (now known as the University of Mary Washington) with an MBA in Management Technology. Currently, Lynn is an adjunct teacher for the Business & Social Sciences division teaching ITE 180 Helpdesk Support Skills. “Coming back to the Woodbridge Campus was like coming home again,” said Lynn. “Now I just drive over Interstate 95 and look at all the traffic. Not having to drive in traffic is a great sense of freedom. I actually have time to spend working out at the gym, either lifting weights or Spinning.” Since Lynn has returned, the campus has grown from only 400 computers to well over 1,000. “We have two off-site locations that keep us busy – Ft. Belvoir and the Quantico Marine Base. At Quantico, we now have six classrooms (two removable hard drive computer labs) and an office. Ft. Belvoir has one computer lab and an office. At the Quantico site, we have a CLEP testing site up which is very popular with the students. Also, the campus recently formed a Bridge Partnership with Freedom High School, so we now have six computer carts at the high school that we have to maintain.” “The IT Staff has been great. Working as a team has helped our campus accomplish many tasks and one that I am proud of is that Instructors, from all campuses, want to teach in our computer classrooms because our computers are always operational.” |
