Paralegal Studies Certificate

The Paralegal Studies Certificate Program is an inter-active program providing students the opportunity to take advantage of intense “skill oriented” training. The 2002-2003 Occupational Outlook Handbook stated, “Paralegals and legal assistants are projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2010. The majority of job openings for paralegals in the future will be new jobs created by rapid employment growth, but additional job openings will arise as people leave the occupation.”

This program offers the basic courses for entry-level positions. However, individuals already in the field take this training to sharpen their skills also. An overview of basic law office and court procedures is provided as students learn the basic documents for domestic relations, real estate settlements, litigation and discovery, wills, debt collection and personal injury. Students become familiar with document and data retrieval of public records along with how to interpret information. Government employees, legal secretaries, insurance and banking personnel and people interested in a career change, as well as literary types are sure to benefit from the program. Individuals seeking employment in the following: law firms, title companies, law enforcement agencies, and local, state and federal government may take this program. Private and fraud investigators, corporate legal departments and others may use this certificate to market one-self to employers.

Approved for VA Benefits
