Welcome to The Fourth
Floor Gallery, a place where students and members of the community
display their art. The Woodbridge campus of Northern Virginia Community
College opened its doors at the present location in 1975. The space
that houses The Fourth Floor Gallery was added to the original
building in 1988. Since that time the Fine Arts Department of the
Communications and Humanities Division on campus has managed the
gallery and coordinated its monthly shows.
The Fourth Floor Gallery is over 2000 square feet
of open space on the top floor of the Seefeldt building. It is naturally
lit by a wall of windows that welcome western light as they overlook
the patio and lake. The space is filled with specimen plants and
lounge furniture grouped in intimate settings where students can
study quietly; where they can meet in small groups to complete class
activities; and where visitors can relax, view the art works on display,
and read literary journals published by the campus, the college,
and the Virginia Community College System. The Fourth Floor Gallery
occupies premier high-traffic space just outside the Woodbridge campus
library. The gallery is open: Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday 8:00
a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The building
and gallery are closed on holidays and whenever the college is closed
due to weather or college breaks.
