Functions and Duties
The function of the Assistant to the Business Manager is to assist and provide support to the Business Office which includes the Cashiers, Police/Public Safety, Campus Distribution Center and the Woodbridge Campus by:
Assisting and providing support to the Business Manager with fiscal planning, programming, budgeting and executing the operations budget for the Business Office. This is accomplished by keeping accurate records, advising on actions needed to have necessary resources for the department and maintaining a communication link between the Business Office and the College Budget Office.
Providing support to the Business Office by ensuring that all supplies needed for the smooth operation of the office is available. Ensuring that all equipment is maintained in good working condition and scheduled repair service when needed. In addition, providing budget support to the Police/Public Safety Department and backup support for the Storeroom Keeper, working to achieve an atmosphere of togetherness and accomplishment.
Resolving student's issues and problems, as they arise, in a caring and compassionate manner so they feel they have been treated fairly and are satisfied with the results.
Possessing extensive knowledge of the Administrative Service Procedures Manual, Commonwealth of Virginia Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual and Department of Personnel and Training Policies and Procedures Manual to effectively perform duties. Liaison between the Campus and Human Resources Office, Purchasing Office, Contracted Vendors and Telephone Companies, so as to be able to answer any questions pertaining to these areas, as they arise, researching answers for questions that exceed knowledge.
