Frequently Asked Questions: 1. Can a professor or staff member from another campus reserve and operate the campus van? Yes, any person who is a VCCS employee can reserve and operate the campus van as long as the vehicle is available, paperwork is filled out and a copy of the driver's license is supplied. 2. Can a student operate the campus van? Yes, a student can operate the campus van as long as the above requirements are met and a faculty member or staff member is present for the trip. 3. Can the van be used to transport supplies? No. The van is a passenger van, not a cargo van. 4. Who has priority when reserving the campus van? Priority is in this order: 1) Student Activities (with students) 2) those attending an out of town conference; and 3) those with last minute requests ("last minute" meaning those who reserve the van 48 hours or less before the trip.) 5. How many people can fit comfortably in the campus van? Six to seven people. 6. Is there anyone I can go to for questions or to sign the van out when Ash is away from her desk? Yes, you can visit Sam or Paul in room 241 or call them at ext. 5-5747. 7. What should I do if my plans to use the campus van change? Inform Ash or Sam as soon as possible before the date so the van can be re-scheduled. 8. NEW!! NVCC POLICY REGARDING CELL PHONE USAGE WHILE OPERATING A STATE VEHICLE: PER ROGER TANCRETI: "While driving state vehicles, cell phones are for emergency purposes only; and vehicle should be parked."
