Tech Prep is the term used in Virginia
to designate the federal program authorized and funded through the
Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act of
1998. Under this act, Virginia's secondary school divisions and community
colleges have come together to form twenty-three consortia whose mission
is to plan, develop, and implement Tech Prep programs of study. Many
of the consortia also have local businesses, industries, and community
organizations represented in their membership.
