Abstinence

Students will be able to identify the advantages and disadvantages of being Abstinent. This high school lesson plan is designed to help students be aware of the implication of not being abstinent.

Major topics to be discussed

a. What does it mean to be abstinent
b. Sexually Transmitted Diseases
c. Reasons to be or remain abstinent

Objectives
1. Explore to remain/begin abstinent
2. The human body is affected by being sexually active
3. What does current research indicate about STD's in regards to individuals who are sexually active.

The Realities of Teen Pregnancy- Abstinence Awareness



Computer Lab Assignment
Compose a friendly letter to yourself, a younger brother or sister or a friend expressing the only way to avoid a Sexually Transmitted Disease or pregnancy is by ABSTINENCE.
Use the above resources to support your arguement. Think about what you might want to say in your letter:
1. How general should it be?
2. Use the information that you found on this website to support your convitions.
3. Should males and females who are dating sign such a pledge? If so, would the language be different?
