This ANSI (American National Standards Institute) accredited course provides an introduction to the food service industry that covers the basic knowledge required to serve food safely and prevent foodborne illness. A food handler is defined as any person employed in a food premise, who at any time may be involved in the manufacturing, preparation, packing or service of food for sale. Topics include receiving, storage, preparation, serving, personal hygiene, cleaning, sanitizing, and pest prevention. Read the required textbook prior to class.
