This 6.5 hour course provides BLS CPR training with AED for: healthcare providers, healthcare students, designated first responders, and individuals needing credentialed training for job or regulatory requirements. BLS CPR for Healthcare Providers is a course that teaches BLS CPR and AED skills including: Adult, child rescue breathing, Adult, child CPR/AED – 1 Rescuer, Adult, child CPR/AED – 2 Rescuers, Adult, child relief of choking, Adult, child bag-mask use, Infant rescue breathing, Infant CPR, Infant relief of choking, and Infant bag-mask use. Course uses learning stations for practice of essential skills. Students engage in simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation. Hands-on class format reinforces skills proficiency. Upon successful completion of the written examination(must score 84% or better) and skills testing students will receive an American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card that is valid for two years.
Students must arrive on time. Students should wear roomy, comfortable clothing to class. Students will be required to perform CPR skills on the floor with some Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) modification of equipment being placed on table. Students will sign a health risk statement for physical activity and infection control steps during CPR performance; this will be provided to you on class day. Students must successfully complete the written exam and practical skills test.
