NOVA’s ACLI Summer English Program offers both new and current students an opportunity to improve in all areas of the English language. It challenges students in all levels of language proficiency to use and improve their oral and written communication skills. Course work includes academic skills such as conversation, listening comprehension, pronunciation, reading, writing, and grammar. In addition, we offer specialized courses like the TOEFL iBT, Business English, and American culture courses. Summer Programs at all NOVA campuses (PDF).

• Important: The ACLI summer courses offered by the Loudoun campus are short and will not fulfill pre-requisites necessary for level advancement (number of hours and curriculum). If you wish to use your summer course(s) to advance in level, you will be required to retake the Placement Test.
• Placement Test: All new students must take the placement test before enrolling in classes. Students will be placed in appropriate levels based on the results of the test (an oral interview and a writing sample). Tests are given by appointment only. See General Admissions for the testing schedule.
• Tuition Refund: All refund requests must be made by the refund deadline and in writing (email to loesl@nvcc.edu) or in person. Refunds are issued as checks from the State of Virginia and mailed to the student’s address payable to the student, regardless of who paid for a course. Refunds take about 2-3 weeks.
• Books are required for most classes (see book list). Books are available at the Loudoun Campus bookstore room LR 135. For opening hours, call 703-450-2589.
• Class locations are subject to change.  The college does not provide transportation to or between class locations.

• Holidays: There will be no classes May 27 and July 4.
• New F-1 visa students joining  the Summer ACLI Program at the Loudoun Campus are required to enroll in four (4) courses for full-time study (total tuition is $1,090). Students will be assigned a level-specific course after taking the placement test. Because the Loudoun Campus’s Intensive Summer Program is not a full-length IEP program, students will be retested at the end of the summer semester for continued studies in the fall semester. Returning F-1 students may enroll full-time or part-time according to their academic goals during the summer semester.

• F-1 Transfer Application Deadline for the Loudoun Campus is July 1, 2013. Students should visit www.nvcc.edu/international for information on applying to study at NOVA.
