  • Tzarskoe Selo Palace (in Russian and English) The web site of the palace and park ensemble Tzarskoe Selo, which in 1834 became the "sovereign's estate," belonging to the reigning monarch. From 1811 to 1843 the Tzarskoje Selo Imperial Lyceum, where Pushkin obtained his education, was located here. The site provides general information about the ensemble, historical facts and a brief description of its owners -- Russian monarchs.

    Friends & Partners was jointly developed by friends in the US and Russia to promote better understanding between the people of the two countries.  This site contains an extensive database addressing such topics as culture, commerce, business, life, family, etc.


  • INFOART.RU (in Russian) This informational site is one of the largest in Europe.  In addition to world news, politics and economics, you will find information on art, culture, science, sport, weather, etc.


  • Kulichki (in Russian)  This site has something for everyone, from apartment sales to recipes.

  • University of Pittsburgh REESWeb Russian and East European Studies

  • Russkaya Mysl (in Russian) The famous newspaper of the Russian immigration first published in 1947 in Paris. Though it provides some recent political news from Russia, it is mainly dedicated to Russian literary life. It is a newspaper written mainly by Russian immigrants and/or about Russians abroad. M.Tsvetaeva, S. Cherny, V. Nabokov, A. Kuprin, I. Bunin, N.Teffi, and N. Berdyaev were among the authors of this newspaper.


  • Russky Zhurnal (in Russian) The daily Internet periodical concentrates on culture, politics, and Russian society in general.. A great source for anyone who is interested in classic and modern Russian and world literature. It links to the best literature sites where one may find full texts, reviews and other useful information on the topic.

  • Kulichki/Vladimir Vysotsky (also in English) a great site for admirers of Vladimir Vysotsky,  the famous Russian bard. 558 texts of his songs and poetry, 560 audio and  video tapes,  notes to 118 songs, 373 photos, Vysotsky's prose,  his biography, articles and memories about him, and  more.

  • Russian Songs at Little Russia
    This page of the site created by Russians living and studying in San Antonio, TX, provides brief info and audio files of Russian bards. The site itself is also worth being explored. You  may find here a great collection of other audio files of different Russian singers including pop, opera, and religious. The site also provides the pages devoted to Russian fairy-tales (you can listen to them performed by actors),  find out something  new about Russian art and literature, enrich your cooking skills, and get some general information about the CIA.

  • Ogonek (in Russian)  Ogonek is one of Russia’s oldest (1889) and most popular magazines and covers a broad range of topics.  The heading Biblioteka Ogonka links to the full texts of books published in Soviet times and includes works by Andrey Platonov, James Oldridge, Ernest Hemingway, the goalkeeper Lev Yashin, and the figure skater Irina Rodnina

  Russian is the official language of Russia, and is spoken as the first language by over 160 million people (including those living in the former Soviet Republics).
