  Compressed Video
 

Interactive television between multiple college sites using a wide area network.  Synchronous instruction (students and instructor meet at the same time in different places).  Requires attendance at a specific time and place (usually, a VCCS college campus).

  Telecourses
 

Televised instruction using videotapes.  Asynchronous instruction (students and instructor do not meet at the same time or in the same place). Students may complete the course at home (with VCR) and maintain contact with the instructor via e-mail and/or telephone.

Teaches oral communication and introduces cultural mores and customs to students with no prior instruction in the language.

  Spanish 163:  Spanish for Health Professionals I ( 3 CR)
 

Introduces Spanish to those in the health sciences. Emphasizes oral communication and practical medical vocabulary. May include oral drill and practice.

  Spanish 201:  Intermediate Spanish I ( 3- 4 CR)
 

Continues to develop understanding, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Prerequisite SPA 102 or equivalent. May include oral drill and practice.
