Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)

NOVA welcomes DACA students!

DACA Students at NOVA

DACA students may qualify for in-state tuition. They have to bring documentation of their status to the campus Student Services Center before the first day of class. Students must be in DACA status for one year before they are eligible.

Steps to qualify for in-state tuition:
  1. Apply to NOVA online www.nvcc.edu.
  2. Bring the following documents to a campus Student Services Center before the first day of class:
    a. DACA authorization dated one year before the first day of classes.
        i. Example: If classes begin on August 24, 2015, then DACA authorization must be dated August 24, 2014 or earlier.
    b. Proof of one year’s residence in Virginia. A high school transcript is the easiest way to do this.
    c. Virginia driver’s license and car registration if the student has one.
    d. Virginia income tax return or pay stub showing Virginia taxes paid if the student has one.
  3. When the student’s DACA status expires, the student needs to bring in the renewal notice in order to remain eligible.
