“There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are
brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again.”
-Elizabeth Warren |
The chamber orchestra season begins with music inspired by the magic and
wonder of childhood. Whether it is the memories of their youth or the experiences
of the children who are near and dear to them, composers have often
sought to convey the “brighter colors” and more “fragrant air” that is to be
found in the province of children. This concert will include musical representations
of a child’s summer day, tales from Mother Goose, a composer’s love for
his three-year-old daughter, and a toy shop in which the dolls magically come to life.
