Schedule of Classes -
REGISTRATION FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS
Thank you for choosing to continue your academic studies with NOVA. We look forward to your return in Fall 2013. Because you have registered for classes in the past, you are already familiar with the enrollment process. Simply follow the steps outlined below. If you need more information, see new student admission.
NOTE: If it has been more than three years since your last class at NOVA, you must reapply for admission.
STEP 1 Apply for Financial Aid
If you plan to apply for student financial aid, see the Financial Aid website.
STEP 2 Meet With Your Advisor
Contact your academic division to set up a meeting with your faculty advisor or counselor before you register to make sure you’re taking the right courses to achieve your academic goals. This is especially important if you plan to transfer to another college or university.
If you will be graduating at the end of the Fall, you must apply online for graduation by October 1, but earlier is better.
STEP 3 Get Your Student ID Card (NOVACard)
NOVACards are valid for two years. Click here for more information.
STEP 4 Enroll in Classes
April 16: Priority registration for Fall begins for continuing students. To register for classes, use NOVAConnect
STEP 5 Pay Your Tuition
You will NOT be billed for tuition. Click here for tuition payment information. If you enroll in classes by July 28, payment for all classes is due July 29 by 5:00 p.m. In most cases, unpaid classes will be dropped after that date. Beginning July 29, the tuition for any classes in which you enroll is due before 5:00 p.m. the next business day, or those classes may be dropped.
You are financially responsible for all classes for which you register. If you decide not to take a class, you must drop it through NOVAConnect or visit a campus Student Services Center to withdraw officially; otherwise, you will be charged for that class and may receive a failing grade.
If you wish to pay your tuition in installments, you must enroll in NOVA’s Tuition Payment Plan before your tuition due date, or by 5 p.m. the day after you register.
STEP 6 Print Your Schedule
Print a copy of your enrollment schedule every time you make changes.
STEP 7 Buy Your Books
Take a printout of your class schedule to the bookstore on the campus where the course is taught (ELI available at Alexandria), or buy your books online. You can also rent textbooks for less than 50% of the cost of purchasing a new textbook, either in the bookstore or from the store’s website.
If you have received a financial aid award large enough to cover tuition, fees, and books, see Using Approved Financial Aid to Buy or Rent Textbooks.
STEP 8 Buy Your Parking Permit
(not required at Manassas Innovation Park, Reston, or off-campus locations)
Beginning August 1, permits can be purchased online and your permit will be mailed to you. Temporary 21-day passes can be printed from the website for immediate use. Parking enforcement begins September 8.
STEP 9 Activate Your Free Student Email Account
If your free NOVA email account is not active, activate it before the start of Fall 2013 classes. Click here for instructions on using your account.
