Schedule of classes -- Summer 2011

HYBRID CLASSES

More and more courses are being offered in a hybrid format, which blends face-to-face teaching and online learning. Depending on the subject, the amount of Web-based instruction can vary in proportion to the class meetings. Hybrid courses are NOT condensed courses. They require the same number of contact hours as traditional courses, except that a portion is taught electronically. .

Most hybrid courses use “Blackboard”– you can log on to get your Blackboard account at http://tac.nvcc.edu/blackboard/. A reliable Internet connection is essential. If you do not have your own computer, you can use one of NOVA’s computer labs.

Hybrid courses can be challenging. To be successful, you should be comfortable using computers and the Internet. You need to read directions and assignments carefully. You also need excellent time management skills and the self-motivation to stay current with the class calendar.

Hybrid courses listed in this Schedule are marked with the symbol below: Check the online course listing or contact the instructor or the division listed for more information. For more distance learning course options, see NOVA’s Extended Learning Institute (Distance Learning) at http://eli.nvcc.edu.
